Starting at the light house!

California is a beautiful place  - might be an understatement! It has something to offer for everyone. North or south along the coast, innumerable number of times, there is always something fresh and new to enjoy! Having a long coastline, the state houses a considerable number of light houses built overs the years. One such beauty is the Point Reyes national seashore. It sounded to be a normal light house initially, but trust me, it is "one of its kind"! It challenges one to go down and see its history! Walking down the parking lot for about 1/2 a mile and climbing down a narrow and steep 309 steps will take us to the small tiny light house. The docents are so kind and narrate the history behind the light house and the Fresnel lens. Just out of the building and you would see yourself standing amidst the pacific ocean. If one is lucky, whales would show up and wave a hi! Climbing back up is a task in itself, one has to take breaks and climb slowly to get to the top. But overall an experience to be cherished and not missed!

Finally getting a chance to pen down my experiences and thoughts about the different places I have been to, outside India. Thinking about a title for this blog, different things came to my mind - colors, nature, beauty, animals, trees, mountains etc etc. Realized that merely using these few words would be insufficient to bring out the brilliance of nature, be it the waters covering 75% of the world or the humongous rocks guarding us through years. I have not gotten into the water or climbed the mountains yet! The next obvious attraction to my eyes are the light houses which are just on the coast getting dashed by the waters everyday and the meadows who have their mammoth neighbor not moving away from them anytime.
